New Work

Currently I am focusing on researching the wartime strategies currently taking place in the Ukraine to shield and protect their public monuments and artworks. With the targets of bombs being unclear, places like Kyiv began shielding statues from bombs. Over the last year, museum professionals in the Ukraine enlisted the help and support of an army of volunteers to build sandbag buttresses to protect their national monuments.

In studio I am experimenting with various types and colors of sandbags, exploring stacking forms, and imagining new visual languages that will resonate with the shielding and heritage strategies in current day Ukraine.
